The Altrusa Club of Appleton will once again host its annual golf outing with nearly half of the earnings donated to Harbor House.
When: Friday, July 24; registration at 7 a.m., shotgun start at 8 a.m., silent auction and raffle at noon, lunch immediately following your golf round.
Where: Eagle Creek Golf Club, N3594 Market Road, Hortonville
Individual Golfers: $85 per golfer ($340 per foursome); includes 18 holes of golf, 2 carts per foursome, contest holes and prizes, lunch, raffle and door prizes, and awards to best men’s, women’s and mixed foursome teams.
Sponsors Needed: Hole Sponsor ($250), Tee/Pin Sponsor ($125), Cart Sponsor ($25). Each sponsor receives recognition at the hole/tee/pin/cart selected, as well as within the outing informational booklet. Donations of door prizes and gift certificates also are needed for the silent auction and raffle.

Art on the Town to Feature Female Artists’ Auction for Harbor HouseAvenue Art & Co. will host an amazing artists’ auction, featuring 25 local female artists in an array of mediums, to close out this year’s Appleton Downtown Inc.’s Art on the Town series. Enjoy refreshments and music, while you honor Harbor House’s 25th anniversary and view the magnificent works created by the Fox Valley’s top female artisans.

Visit ‘On Wings of Hope’ Booth at Octoberfest
Buffalo Wild Wings will partner once again with Harbor House for this fun outdoor fundraising event that benefits Harbor House’s programming.
When: Saturday, Sept. 26
Where: College Avenue, Downtown Appleton
Volunteers Needed: Teen and adult volunteers are needed to work two- to three-hour shifts during the day as order-takers and cashiers. No food prep required; Buffalo Wild Wings staff handles that.

Interfaith Conference on Teen Dating Violence
Harbor House’s Interfaith Committee will host this training seminar for faith leaders or volunteers who work with teens in religious organizations. The focus will be on offering tips for recognizing teen dating abuse and safely referring youth to programs that can assist. Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs, Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services, Sexual Assault Crisis Center and REACH Counseling are collaborative partners in this event.
When: 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8

Crafters unite for a two-day
retreat where you can craft without interruption, enjoy time with your friends and other crafters and support a great cause in the process. When: Friday Oct. 23 (4 p.m. to midnight) and Saturday, Oct. 24 (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
Where: Little Chute Civic Center, 625 Grand Ave., Little Chute
Cost: $50, which includes crafting workspace and all meals (Friday dinner through Saturday dinner). Live demos will be offered for an additional nominal donation and tickets will be sold for an amazing raffle.

Harbor House will partner with local salons and
cosmetology schools to train salon professionals on how to help clients who may be experiencing domestic abuse. Participating salons will also host various fundraising activities to spread the work about domestic abuse and help raised needed funds for Harbor House’s programming.When: Entire month of October

Adopt-a-Family/Shelter a Success Thanks to Amazing Donor Support
Volunteer Coordinator Andrea Clark and House Manager Amy Helein send another huge thank you to all the individuals and businesses who contributed to Harbor House’s annual holiday Adopt-a-Family/Adopt-a-Shelter Program. Through your amazing generosity, 112 families connected to Harbor House were able to enjoy the 2008 holidays filled with happiness, peace and some greatly needed gifts. Additionally, hundreds of in-kind items needed to keep our shelter running throughout the year were donated. This kind of generosity truly exemplifies the real meaning of the holiday season.
Ellipse Fitness Raises More Than $9,200 in 3rd Annual ‘Victory OverViolence’
All three Appleton Ellipse Fitness locations (Darboy, Greenville and Appleton North) raised more than $9,200 in the 3rd annual Victory Over Violence exercise marathon fundraiser held March 7 to benefit Harbor House. Dozens of participants collected pledges to support their efforts in exercising for four continuous hours to show their support of Harbor House and the quest to end domestic abuse in our community. Big thanks to all participants and the franchise owners at Darboy and Appleton North.
